53 PRODUCT NEWS Electrical insulating gloves Honeywell Safety Products has launched the Electrosoft AS2225 Approved Natural Latex Rubber Insulating Gloves, which are designed to protect workers from electric shocks. Approved to the AS/NZS standard AS2225: 1994, the gloves can be used in a range of electrical conditions from low-to-high voltage environments. They have glove ratings from 650 to 4000 volts. The company says the gloves should be used in conjunction with leather over-gloves to provide mechanical protection of the electrical glove against cutting and tearing. American driveline parts Isuzu Australia has boosted its spare-parts range with the addition of Meritor and Eaton driveline components. The company says many of its truck models in the upper medium- and heavy-duty weight categories feature American driveline components, such as Meritor and Eaton units. However, the components are available for users of non-Isuzu vehicles as well. Fiori site dumper available in Australia SEMCO Group is distributing the Fiori D100 dumper in Australia. The vehicle has a heaped load capacity of up to 5.5 cubic metres and can tip at an angle of up to 70 degrees. The company says it can rapidly unload even sticky materials. The cabin is certifed to ROPS and FOPS II standards and allows the operator unimpeded vision in every direction. The cabin is ftted with a rapidly deployable swivel operator station and seat so the driver is always facing the road ahead while driving. The unit is powered by a Perkins 1104C-44T "FASTR AM" direct-fuel-injection, turbo-aspirated diesel engine that delivers power of 74.5 kilowatts at 2300 revolutions per minute and conforms with exhaust emission directive 97/68 CE and EPA regulations. Five-star safety in electric car Holden’s long-range electric Volt car has been awarded a maximum fve-star safety rating under the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The electric car will go on sale in Australia in November. The manufacturer says it features "some of the most advanced vehicle technology and cutting- edge safety features available in Australia". The vehicle will come with safety features, including 'Lane Departure Warning' and 'Forward Collision Alert'. The Lane Departure Warning uses windscreen-mounted digital camera to alert drivers when they stray outside lane markings or change lanes without signalling frst. The For ward Collision Alert system uses the same camera to detect slow or stationary traffc in front of the vehicle and warns drivers if they are following another vehicle too closely. The car also features eight airbags, a rear view camera, front and rear parking sensors, an electric park brake and electronic stability control, an anti-lock braking system, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution and traction control.
