47 PROMOTION The proof is in the data logging for the McBerns ZC-Series Odour Filters Recently McBerns was asked to investigate a particularly problematic site in Nudgee, Queensland. The site is located on a school property in a densely populated area. Odour logging showed excessive hydrogen sulphide levels, resulting in signi cant customer complaints. Although the receiving manhole had a six-metre vent pole, odours were still causing signi cant problems for the surrounding area. A er thorough discussions, it was determined that the ZC1200 Ground Mount Filter would be suitable for this site. There were several factors to consider. The site is four kilometres from the nearest pump station, a large diameter main feeds into the site and there are long retention times between pump movements, resulting in increased odour production. Signi cant in ows into the receiving chambers displace large air ows and increase sewerage agitation, which only compounds the odour release into the atmosphere. For the ZC1200 to work e ectively, the hydrogen sulphide has to have enough contact time to pass through the lter media to be adsorbed and treated. The specially formulated media is a continuous treatment process, capturing and scrubbing the sulphide gas and other noxious odours. It neutralises the hydrogen sulphide by changing the molecular structure and only releasing clean air back into the environment. The ZC1200 is capable of handling air ow up to 200 litres per second. Work began with the removal of the old six-metre vent pole. Then a three-by-three-metre concrete slab was installed to accommodate the initial ZC1200. The extra space will allow the addition of another lter to cater for later population increases in the area. The ZC1200 Ground Mount and a three-metre vent pole with a wind-assisted fan were installed. A Colourbond fence now surrounds the site to shield it from public view and access. As part of the service arrangement, McBerns has been monitoring the lter. This has produced very valuable data that shows the ZC1200 is performing consistently, with no hydrogen sulphide emissions released into the atmosphere. The data has been collected weekly over the past months at varying times throughout any 24-hour period. This is to ensure that the logging data gather a wide range of peaks and troughs. Odour logging is taken at the entry point from the receiving chambers into the ZC1200, where the hydrogen sulphide readings sometimes spiked o the scale. Readings were then taken at the exit point from the lter, where the hydrogen sulphide levels were barely shown by the data logging graphs. McBerns Odour Filters provide a fast, e cient and economical solution to di cult odour issues. LR Technologies has completed a wide variety of work for private industry and many NSW-government departments. The LR Technologies package encompasses consultancy services, sales and application advice. LR Technologies has experience in road maintenance and project management, making it a perfect t to provide sales, installation and consulting services on our entire product range. We now have a solution for big or small jobs. Permanent Pothole Solutions has been the Australian distributor of Asphalt in a Bag for more than three years. The last couple of years we have enjoyed increased market share due to our exibility and customer service focus. Asphalt in a Bag is the only dense-grade product on the market, which means you use less. The polymer helps it bind to itself as well as the surrounding area, whether it is asphalt, concrete, wood or even steel. The polymer also aids in the curing process, which is on compaction. Therefore in its packaged form it will not go o , so if you have a metre square space you can hold a pallet load, which is the most economical way to purchase Asphalt in a Bag. See a pothole and ll it immediately. No special tools are required. Take a look at www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XJcFhSo23w to see just how easy it is to use.
